It was open until September 9th, 1965. On this night, Hurricane Betsy blew through New Orleans and the strong winds twisted the screen and it was never repaired and demolished soon after. We lived on Marie Dr as kids and could see the screen and movies from our house. The land sat vacant a couple years then the first phase of Garden Lane opened in 1968 and the second phase in 1974.
Spent many a fun time there from 1961 through 1963!

Gretna Greens Drive-In was located between Lafayette St., and the railroad tracks, right before the Lafayette St./Belle Chase Hwy. split. After it was demolished, the Garden Lane Apartments (1901 Lafayette St.) were built on the site.
