1950s Advertisement for the Atwater Theatre

Located in Atwater Village, to the south of Glendale, CA. The Atwater Theatre was opened November 9, 1941. It was still operating in 1954. The Atwater Theatre was owned by Harry Owens, a television and radio personality of the era. He decorated the theatre with beautiful murals of Hawaii depicting mountains, waterfalls and beach scenes. The carpets and stage curtains had bold tropical leaf and flower patterns.

Today, the foyer and former projection booth is home to a bird store named Pampered Birds, while the former auditorium is in use as an artists studio.
