This was one of the last single screen theatres in the capitol of Sweden, Stockholm. The architect, Bjorn Hedwall, got the decoration ideas from the park across the road.
The Park-Teatern opened on 21st November 1941, with 923 seats: 668 in the orchestra and 255 in the balcony. It was the only operating cinema in Stockholm to be totally unaltered from the day it opened and was maintained to a very high standard. Only new seats installed in 1999 reduced the seating capacity.
There were proposals made by theater owner, SF, who wanted to close it down and lease it as a restaurant…, but it survived into 2008 and beyond. It was closed in 2014, but was available to rent. It was fully closed in the spring of 2017.

Unfortunately, the Park Cinema is no regular cinema anymore. When I wanted to visit the cinema in October 2014, I was told that it has turned into a cinema to rent even though for certain moments it might still open to the general public.
PARK a movie theatre that was showing comedies (The Pink Panter, The Graduate), romance (Titanic) but sometime action (Saving Private Ryan). My last film here was “Inversion” a prewiew of an Iranian film. 27 April 2017.
