Located on the corner of Public Square and E. Main Street in part of the Alexander Hotel building. The Alice Theatre was opened on June 21, 1935 with Lyle Talbot in “Red Hot Tires”. The theatre could accommodate 300 patrons, it was closed on February 4, 1988 with Goldie Hawn in “Overboard”.
The building was intact in July 2013. By November 2018 it looked like it had been gutted and prepared for demolition, with the glass in the windows smashed. It still looked the same in August 2022. By 2023 work had begun to renovate the building and it continued into 2023.

The map marker is completely wrong. This building will be demolished soon. The top floor is gutted and windowless, and the theater doors are boarded over.
Street view still shows it intact.
That’s because it hasn’t been demolished yet. Soon means in the next few months, presumably.
Erwin J Rau was the manager in June 1955.
The Alexander Hotel was a multi-purpose venue that housed the H&H Cafe, the Super Service Garage and Super Service Station. The theater launched June 21, 1935 with “Red Hot Tires.” The venue’s final operator Ralph McCoy closed down at the expiry of his lease. The Alice showed “Overboard” on February 4, 1988 - its final day.
