Screen

The Thunderbird Drive-In was opened on July 15, 1971 with John Wayne in “Big Jake”. The last year movies were shown was 1988 but it continued with a Flea Market on week ends until September 14, 1992. The screen and projection equipment have been kept in good shape so if the owner decided to reopen it would be ready to go.

The Thunderbird Drive-In opened its gates on July 15, 1971 with John Wayne in “Big Jake”, featuring installations of automated projection with Xenon lamps, stereo speakers, and a 72x32ft terrazzo-tiled concession building.

A closer address is 3541 Springs Rd NE, Hickory, NC.

Google Maps has updated their addresses and this puts it right on the property.

It is still a flea market, which takes up the back half of the drive-in.
