I recall this being the last one screen cinema built in the area. A few years after it opened a 3 screen UA Cinema went into the new shopping mall less than a mile away. They were the only cinema that I know of that showed 70mm prints. I saw the first Superman movie there and Star Trek the Motion Picture. I remember they had a convention sized booth display (with a huge cardboard backdrop of the movie poster behind it) in the lobby selling knick knacks. Pins and belt buckles and the like. I ended up getting a small gold pin. They also had free matchbooks with the poster art in 2 colors so I grabbed one of those as they were free. It has been a casino since the mid 1990’s.

I remember this theater as it was the first time my Mother allowed me to go to a movie without a parent, it was playing The Towering Inferno. I also remember there was a line down the block when Earthquake opened, they had installed the special sound system so you could “feel” the quake. It was not around for very long before changing to the Casino Club. The drive in was next door too.
