Grand Picture House

Located in the northwest Birmingham inner city district of Alum Rock. The Grand Picture House was opened on 14th March 1914. Seating for 950 was provided in stalls and balcony levels.

It was independently operated by Saltley Grand Picture House Co. Ltd. It was closed on 29th August 1959 with “Smokey” and “Sabu and the Magic Ring”.

The building was converted into a motor repair shop, and this use continues today, with the front of the building demolished and rebuilt as retail units.
