Martin and Ray launched the Camellia Drive-In on June 7, 1950 with “The Big Cat.” The theatre was located on the old fairgrounds.

You are right Rick, I have run into that before myself.

Randy,

When people refer back to a drive-in, they sometimes forget the actual name and simply refer to it by the name of the town it was in. The drive-in near Greenville would then be called the Greenville Drive-In, even through it operated under another name. This happens constantly, and leads to a lot of confusion, as well as duplicate listings.

Could there have been a Greenville Drive-In seperate from the Camellia Drive-In? It’s possible, but unless there is a newspaper ad showing both drive-ins operating simultaneously, probably not.

This drive-in was located at 1300 E Commerce St.

Use 1306 to map (the Shell gas station next door).

Now a ballfield.

Please update.
