The Elks Building was built in 1905 and the Elks Theatre opened on November 19, 1907. The opening show at the Elks Theatre was “The Lightning Conductor”. The manager at opening was Mr. Walter Humphrey.
Movies and soundtracks were first introduced at the Elks Theatre in Huntsville. The theatre was remodeled and leased to American Artists Assoc. in 1925. As a movie theatre seating was listed at 592. By 1950 it was operated by the Lyric Amusement Co., a subsidiary of the Nashville, TN. based Crescent Amusement Co.
The Elks Theatre closed on March 5, 1954 with Charles Starrett in “The Kid from Amarillo” & Kirby Grant in “Northwest Territory”. In October 1954 it was converted into office space and has since been demolished.

Arcitects Tuttle & Ross revealed the Elks Theatre plans in 1905. Work was suspended delaying the Elks launch to November of 1907. The Elks closed March 5, 1954 with “Kid from Amarillo” and “Northwest Territory” supposed by the last chapter go the “Black Hawk” serial. In October of 1954, the theater portion of the venue was converted to office space.
