The Harlem Theater opened by Robb & Rowley-United Inc. on June 15, 1941. This theater was patronized by African-Americans. The Harlem Theater is still listed in 1955 with 673 seats and operated by Rowley United Theatres Inc.
In 1960 it was in use as a live theater venue. After the theater closed, the building was used as a supermarket. When the supermarket closed, the building was home to the Islamic Center of Corpus Christi. It has since been demolished.

African Americans in Corpus Christi, by Bruce A. Glasrud, Mary Jo O'Rear, and Gloria Randle Scott, says that the Harlem Theatre opened in 1941. It also says that a live performance venue called the Cotton Club opened in the Harlem Theatre in 1960.
