Harlem Theater

The Harlem Theater opened by Robb & Rowley-United Inc. on June 15, 1941. This theater was patronized by African-Americans. The Harlem Theater is still listed in 1955 with 673 seats and operated by Rowley United Theatres Inc.

In 1960 it was in use as a live theater venue. After the theater closed, the building was used as a supermarket. When the supermarket closed, the building was home to the Islamic Center of Corpus Christi. It has since been demolished.

African Americans in Corpus Christi, by Bruce A. Glasrud, ‎Mary Jo O'Rear, and ‎Gloria Randle Scott, says that the Harlem Theatre opened in 1941. It also says that a live performance venue called the Cotton Club opened in the Harlem Theatre in 1960.
