The Starlite Dude Ranch Theatre was opened on May 8. 1953 with Gary Cooper in “Distant Drums”. It first appeared in the Film Daily Yearbook of 1954-55.
Orin Lee, operator of the theatre and owner of the Showboat Drive-In, was the developer and at one time it was one of three drive-ins in Coeur d’Alene.
The 290-car Starlite Drive-In was listed in the International Motion Picture Almanac through 1976.
