News About This Theater

Time Theater

The Time Theater was opened on May 30, 1942 with Eleanor Powell in “Ship Ahoy”. It replaced the earlier Lyric Theatre, and all seats are on a single floor. It was remodeled in 1997 and has been operating on reduced times since late-2012, due to the shortage and withdrawal of 35mm film stock. A local fundraising effort raised over $100,000 to purchase a digital projector, which was due to be installed. Following another remodel in 2013 the Time Theater was set to fully reopen on June 15, 2013. It had closed by December 2017. It had reopened by 2021.

It would be great if this article could be updated. It is NOT closed. It’s open and showing new movies. During October they show old ‘scary’ movies on Saturday nights for those that enjoy the nostalgia. It’s a quaint little one screen theatre that keeps the movies coming!

After briefly being in one location, the Lyric Theatre had operated in the same location from February of 1910 to 1942. Owner Jack Pierce moved the Lyric to the new Time Theatre on May 30,1942 for its patriotic World War 2 themed grand opening show of Eleanor Powell in “Ship Ahoy” supported by a short, “Meet the Fleet” and a newsreel. Fast forward to 2022, the theatre was still showing first-run films where at its 80th Anniversary, it was showing “Top Gun: Maverick” on May 30, 2022.
