The Grand Opening for the Cinema 6 was October 14, 1983 under Charlotte based Stewart & Everett(which also owned and operated The Brynn Marr 3, Northwoods Twin, and the Center Twin). The Cinema 6 replaced the Iwo Jima Theatre Downtown and the Cinema Drive-In which were also under Stewart & Everett which were closed by 1983. I have the grand opening ad for this theater as well as the microfilm newspaper ad if interested please contact me at rcj5365@excite.com for more information.

Address is 472 Western Boulevard, Jacksonville, NC 28546…. Theater was located the intersection of Commerce Road and Western Boulevard. This theater has been demolished. A Wasabi Japanese Sushi and Steak House now sits where the Cinema 6 once stood.

Correction to above post: Cinema 6 replaced the Iwo Jima Theatre (downtown) and the Cinema Drive-In, not the Iwo Jima Drive-In (no drive-in in Jacksonville to my knowledge was called Iwo Jima).
