The Motor-Vu Drive-In opened in August of 1949 and in November the Post-Register reported on the passing of Merrill Boyle, operator of the Motor-Vu Drive-In. Ironically Mr. Boyle had taken over the theater after it opened from the builder, Robert Bodenhamer, because Bodenhamer was too ill to operate it. Mr. Boyle, 50-years old, was a businessman and mayor of Blackfoot.
By 1954 the Motor-Vu Drive-In was owned by Al Barret of the Roxy Theatre and he announced the installation of a 100-foot screen for CinemaScope. A 1970’s International Motion Picture Almanac listed its capacity as 490 cars. A local citizen says that the Motor-Vu Drive-In closed in 1976.

Boxoffice, Feb. 11, 1950: “One drive-in that will operate under a new owner this year is the Blackfoot Motor-Vu in Idaho, which was purchased by Albert Barrett, co-owner of the Roxy Theatre at Blackfoot, and Oscar Paisley, theatre operator of Couer d'Alene. They purchased it from the estate of the late Mayor Merrill C. Boyle.”
