I attended one of the Broadway musicals in the 1960s. It was probably the only house large enough, with the Pabst being too small and the P.A.C. not yet opened.

I have a photograph of my grandparents' wedding picture taken sometime a few years after the theater opened. The photographer was Haynes. I’m guessing the photograph was taken in the theater lobby but perhaps there was a photography studio above the theater? Wish I knew the answer, but at least I know the photos were taken in the building…somewhere.

On June 22, 1960, the Palace Theatre hosted a Premiere Benefit Performance for “The Story of Ruth” benefiting the Variety Club Epilepsy Center at Mount Sinai Hospital. Elena Eden, the star of the film, was on hand at a dinner at the Wisconsin Club before the performance.

The Palace Theater was the only Milwaukee theater to show movies in Cinerama. I saw several of these movies and loved the Palace, along with the other theaters on Wisconsin Ave.

The January 8, 1920, issue of the trade Journal Electrical World had an article entitled “Artistic and Utilitarian Theater Lighting” which featured four photos of the Palace Theatre.

The article can be read online here at Google Books.

The name shows up as an ellipse on the home page. Perhaps one name with some akas?
