The single-screen Park Theatre opened October 30, 1952 on the Island Highway in downtown Parksville, with seating for 350.

Due to deterioration of the theatre building and competition from theatres in the north Nanaimo area, the Park Theatre closed in March 1992, then was demolished the following May to make room for parking space for a nearby drugstore.

This notice in the “Openings” column of the November 29, 1952, issue of Boxoffice was mistakenly dateline Parkville, B. C.:

“The 350-seat Park Theatre, financed by the community, opened October 30.”
