The opening of the Stateline Cinema in a converted building was reported in Boxoffice Magazine on August 24, 1970. Robert Retzer and Willis Tomlinson, who also ran the Tahoe Drive-In, had to raise the roof, slant the floor and extend the walls. The result was a 298-seat loge theater, which was equipped to run 70mm. It was noted that Retzer also operated the Lakeside Theatre.
According to the Nevada Appeal, while being operated by Wallace Theatres, it closed in May of 2000.

The second comment by Bill Kingman (near the bottom of the page) on this post about the Lakeside Theatre from the Lake Tahoe News web site says that the Stateline Theatre was on the site now occupied by the Heavenly Village Cinemas, and that before the Stateline opened the site had been part of the first location of the Tahoe Drive-In, which moved to a new site in 1955.
Mr. Vogel is correct, however the new Stateline was never equipped with 70mm…it did have a new Dolby CP-100 stereo sound system with Century SA projectors, I worked there for Bob Retzer and serviced that booth as a tech up until Wallace bought out Retzer.
