The New West Cinemas were opened in 1979 by the Odeon chain (later Cineplex Odeon) as the Westminster Mall Cinemas, which replaced their downtown Odeon Theatre two blocks away. The theatre closed briefly in 1989 before reopening later that year as an independent. The New West Cinemas went dark on May 1, 2007 and have since been renovated for additional retail space at the mall.
The largest of the three screens at the theatre seated 528, while the other two seated 270 and 350 respectively.
