Nanaimo Entertainment Centre

Opened in November 8, 1979 as the twin-screen Caprice Theatres with “The Muppet Movie” and “Hot Stuff”. It closed on June 15, 2000, then reopened as the Criterion Cinesave, a discount cinema showing second-run movies, on November 24 that year.

It went dark again in 2002, then was acquired by new owners, renovated (with the theatre seats removed) and turned into a live venue as the Nanaimo Entertainment Centre, which reopened on October 24, 2012.

This page, from the Nanaimo Entertainment Centre’s official website shows the floor plans of the two former theaters. Here is an interior photo of one of the auditoriums before the seats were removed and the floor leveled. There is a picture on this webpage of one of the auditoriums undergoing renovation.
