So nice to see “normal” seating in a recent restoration as opposed to sleep-inducing recliners.
This venue also housed bingo in the early sixties, as shown in the photograph (the last one) in the gallery.

Without a doubt my favorite cinema in the whole world. My craving for Maltesers comes from the beautiful concession stand in front of the doors. Watership Down may have been my first movie there. And endless reruns of Grease in 78-79.
For the longest time there was a poster in the lobby for Heaven Can Wait with Warren Beatty in his grey track suit. It never seemed to go down.
I’m so glad it’s up and running again.
And another exterior from 1987, showing how it dominates this part of the Marine Parade, here:–

Well it took a year longer than originally planned, but the Dome Cinema has finally re-opened on 6th July 2007 following its multi-million £’s restoration.
It kind of looks like a lighthouse. Neat!
Yet more interior photos here – dating from 1991

The website has been up-dated and also has a short promotional video presentation. The fully restored and renovated Dome Cinema is due to re-open Summer 2006.
Sorry to bug you again Paul. Have a photo to include, but I see the facility to do so isn’t available on the site temporarily.
Agreed Paul. I’ll have a dig around.
The website does not have any photos….it is full of info, but really needs some pix for us all to see.
Glad to say the Dome’s up and running again.
