Brown Cinema I & II was opened by Showcase International Theatres on December 22, 1972 with Steve McQueen in “The Getaway” & Topol in “Fiddler on the Roof”. It was later operated by Foothills Entertainment. In recent years it has been taken over by Dallas based Showbiz Cinemas, and renamed Showbiz Cinemas Orange. It was closed due to the effects of Hurricane Harvey on August 25, 2017.

cinema 4 rockport is also closed because of Hurricane Harvey.
Showcase International Theatres opened the Brown Cinema I & II on December 22, 1972 with “The Getaway” in Screen 1 (plus “Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory" as a kiddie matinee the following day) and “Fiddler On The Roof” in Screen 2. Screen 1 originally housed 500 seats while Screen 2 housed 300 seats.

Google Street View of March 2024 shows the theatre still seemingly vacant and a metal building addition with a vehicle ramp having been erected on the end nearest the street. Possibly for warehouse use.
