Located in the west Sydney district of Bankstown. First opened by Enterprise Theatres on 11th June 1937 as the Regent Theatre, with seating for 793. It was another handsome Art Moderne style cinema designed by the architectural firm Crick & Furse with their streamlined look.
In 1964 Suburban Cinemas Ltd (a subsidiary of Hoyts Theatres) purchased the theatre, and a few years later modernised the interior, making it more amenable to widescreen films. The seating capacity was reduced to 687.
Hoyts closed it in 1971 and it was passed to the Louis chain which bought many such movie theatres in which to screen Greek and Italian language films.
It changed hands a few more times before finally closing on 19th July 1989 and was soon demolished for a development of small shops.
