Located in Coalville, Leicestershire. The Coalville Public Hall opened in 1876. It later became the Theatre Royal.
In 1910, it was converted into the Coalville Electric Theatre. Seating was provided on a single floor.
Major alterations were carried out in 1920, and a balcony was added. It was reopened in 1920 as the Grand Cinema, now owned and operated by George & Charles Deeming.
In 1939 it was requisitioned by the Ministry of Food for food storage during World War II, and this used lasted until 1953. It never re-opened as a cinema, as the Deeming’s converted it into a ballroom. In 1973, the Grand Ballroom was taken over by Mecca. In recent years it has operated as a nightclub named Passion. By 2009 it it had been re-named The Emporium.

hi as i worked at the grand from 1965 till it shut the worked at the rex, i think you got the dates wrong i met the wife wen i was working there in 66,we got wed in 67 and both of us worked there ,as did my mum
