Trail Drive-In

The Trail Drive-In opened July 26, 1956, featuring “Jubal” starring Glenn Ford, Ernest Borgnine and “World Without End” featuring Hugh Marlowe and Nancy Gates. The Trail Drive-In, built and owned by Vialdo Theatre’s Inc., had a 350 car capacity. Vialdo Theatre’s Inc. was a partnership of Harold “Jesse” James, Jack Armstrong, Paul Pontius and Earnest Walker. The Jack Armstrong Circuit operated the theatre. Theater Equipment Company from Toledo, Ohio, supplied the equipment to operate the theatre.

After 22 years of showing movies, the Trail Drive-In was closed in 1978. It was demolished in 1979. Harold James and James Walter sold the property on March 17, 1979, for retail development. When it was redeveloped, a street named Trail Drive was built through the middle of the property to honor the drive-in theatre that was located on the site.
