What might have been the first two-screen theater in the United States opened in Atlanta in February, 1907. Located in a storefront at what was then 46-48 Whitehall Street, the house had a partition down the middle creating two auditoriums, each of which presented a 15-minute show with an admission price of five cents. In 1910 the Twin Theatre was offering 45 performances a day.
L.P. Daniels, S. P. Robbins, and L. H. Lansdell were the operators of the Twin Theatre, and the project had been financed by Atlanta clothing merchant L. J. Daniels.
A 1916 article about Atlanta’s movie theaters said that the Twin Theatre was the city’s leading movie house for several years, but there is no word on how long it remained in operation.
