Located in Ruthin, Denbighshire (Clwyd), the Picture House was opened in 1925. By 1934, it was listed as the Cinema, with a proscenium 18 feet wide, a 20 feet deep stage and one dressing room. All seating was on a single level.
By 1954, it had been re-named Picture House, and was screening films on a 21 feet wide screen (CinemaScope), inside a 22 feet wide proscenium.
The Picture House was still open in 1963, but had closed by 1966. It was later converted into a warehouse. There was talk of it re-opening when Peter Moore who operated several North Wales cinemas, was interested in the building. But he was arrested for the brutal murders of four local gay men, and was convicted and now serves a life sentence. In 2008, the building was converted into a restaurant & bar.

After it closed as a cinema in the mid-1960s, the auditorium was empty for many years before it became a discount supermarket in the late 70s, and later a second-hand furniture and antiques shop.
