One of the first theaters in the Temecula area. Opened in 1981. It seems the building still exists, but has been heavily renovated to be something else.
Here is a transcription of an article in the local paper reporting on the grand opening of the theater:
“The Grand Opening of the Winchester Square Theatre will held this Friday, December 18. The Box office will open at 6:30 p.m. and free popcorn will be given to movie-goers Friday evening.
Chancellor Theatres will be providing only first-run movies in the three screen movie complex which will house all of the latest and newest equipment in the movie theatre industry. Each theatre can accomodate 200 people with comfortable first class seating.
John Werygo will be managing the Winchester Square Theatre.
For the Grand Opening, Chancellor Theatres is happy to announce “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, “Time Bandits” and “Arthur” as their first movies.
The theatre is a project of Rancho Consultants Commercial Properties, a group of investers formed by Rancho Consultants Company, Inc."
