Gawler Cinemas

Converted and extended from a heritage protected house in a residential extension to the main shopping artery, Murray Street, which still exists within the complex, the Village Twin Cinemas was opened in December 1991.

27 years previously, Waterman Brothers' Ozone Theatre in the midst of the commercial part of the street had closed, though the building still stands.

Despite its unusual origins, and therefore its architecture, the cinema complex is attractive and comfortable. A coffee and liquor lounge is an important part of the entertainment experience.

Gawler is still technically a country town 40 kilometres (25 miles) to the north of Adelaide, but is in fact on the edge of the metropolitan area and the terminus of Adelaide Metro trains and buses.
