Largest screen was split up and reopened on August 5th, 1977. Another ad posted.
Opened in the north end of the mall on August 25th, 1966 with two screens.

“It was taken over by Cineplex Odeon in 2005, and then Empire Theatres in September 2005. At some point after Empire took over, two more screens were added.”
Empire Theatres acquired the theater in 2005 because Cineplex had to sell off 27 cinemas due to antitrust concerns.
What I meant was that I couldn’t find any photographic evidence that it was branded as a “SilverCity,” as the only photos I could find are its Empire and Landmark years.
CorusFTW, it was a SilverCity theatre at one point.
I can’t find any photos on the internet of this theatre before Empire Theatre’s takeover. Did this theatre have SilverCity or Famous Players branding?
Opening date was on November 7, 1997. This was the first SilverCity cinema built by Famous Players.
I believe this was the first theatre opened under the SilverCity banner.
This remains the only movie complex in the city after Cineplex was forced to close the 9 screens in Fairview Mall several years ago due to the landlord wanting to redevelop the site. So far Cineplex has not replaced that location which is strange since at the time they said they would have stayed in the mall if they hadn’t been kicked out. Too bad for the residents in the north side of town. Must have been quite handy for them.
First cinema in the mall opened around 1970 by Famous Players with two cinemas. Three cinemas in the late 1970’s and closed in 1998 for the SilverCity.
Changed hands again, this time it’s Landmark.
