Olympia De-Luxe Theatre

Located in the Annandale district of Sydney on the Great Western Highway. An independent theatre that originally opened in 1911. It was re-opened in August 1931 with a matinee of Eddie Cantor in “Whoopee” (Technicolor!) and “Rango”, a jungle docudrama from Ernest Schoedsack. The Olympia De-Luxe Theatre was still open in 1952. It was demolished in 1975. A mixed use retail & apartments building now sits on the site.

So sad it was demolished for some very, very ugly and cheap flats.
