Mayfair Theatre, Redmond Oregon

The Mayfair Theater was once a silent motion picture theater and Vaudeville theater in Redmond, Oregon. It had a beautiful arched proscenium with a small orchestra pit for a piano and drummer. It was operated from the late-1940’s by theater exhibitor Milton Odem and wife Flossie. They were iconic operators with the community in mind. Children grew up in their theaters, the Mayfair Theater and Odem Theater in Redmond and later the Odem-Medo Drive-In. The seating capacity at that time was for 305.

Milt also exhibited dual strip 35mm 3-D films with the first being Vincent Price in “House of Wax.

I loved this theater. It’s bones are still alive and you can see the evidence of the theater where there is now a bar built into the building. The proscenium arch is still visible. A wonderful theater. I produced shows in this theater after it stopped showing movies in the late-1950’s. Also brought a film/live action musical to the theater in 1961 “Hollywood Inside-Out” starring myself, John Harris, Sylvia Lewis (dancer in “Singin in the Rain”) and Bob Jarzen. I hope to add photos of this theater.
