The Radion Cinema opened at 7 pm on Monday 27th March 1939 by the Lord Mayor of Lincoln. The main film was “We’re Going to be Rich” starring Gracie Fields. Sadly this was not the case for the Radion, as six months later it was closed due to the outbreak of the Second World War, in September the cinema was requisitioned by the Army until the end of the War in 1945 when the Radion re-opened and continued to show films until its final closure in 1960.
