This was the replacement of the nearby Bramalea Cinemas III. Three of the films on opening night were also previously screened at the nearby Bramalea Cinemas III’s closure one day before the Gateway’s opening (“Coming to America”, “Heartbreak Hotel”, and “Sweet Hearts Dance”).
This theatre closed on the evening of December 4, 2008. Its final movies include City of Ember, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Lakeview Terrace, Burn After Reading, and The Dark Knight.
This theatre opened on October 7, 1988, and its opening films include Clara’s Heart, A Fish Called Wanda, Imagine: John Lennon, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Coming to America, Heartbreak Hotel, and Sweet Hearts Dance.
The original auditorium names were: Alto, Bijou, Rio, Palace, Olympia & Avalon.
