Interior theatre

Located in North Hollywood in the heart of the NoHo Arts District. The Laemmle NoHo 7 opened on December 21, 2011. It features state-of-art digital projection in all auditoriums, with full stadium seating in the two largest auditoriums and modified stadium seating in the smaller auditoriums. All auditoriums have high-backed leatherette rocker seats with extra-wide row spacing.

The Laemmle NoHo 7 programed adult-appeal Hollywood films as well as foreign language and American independent films.

Update: I attended for the second time on Christmas Eve. The 10PM showing of “Young Adult” in auditorium 7 had about 13 patrons. I peeked in all seven theaters on my way out at midnight and estimated about 100 patrons total(all in all not bad considering XMAS Eve is a very slow movie night). The listed capacity for all seven theaters is 1100. Theaters 1 & 2 are the largest, followed by #6, with the rest seating a little over 100.

My first visit concern over the sound quality was mostly overcome as aud 7 had good acoustics. I was famished so I ordered a Connie’s cheese pizza, which the counter person said was good, and it was. The senior combo at $4 for a popcorn and soda are a good buy.

Laemmle understands value pricing: $11 tops, with $8 matinee bargain prices, $7 pricing for all on Tuesdays, and $4.50 senior admission before 6PM on Wednesdays. I will be a regular patron. FYI, both nights I found FREE street parking on Lankershim two blocks south. Many meters are free after 6PM and all after 8PM.

Saw “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” on 1/9 in one of the big auditoriums(#1)and happy to report the sound was crisp; not a small thing as I have some hearing loss.

I purchased the $100 Premiere Card which is the best bargain in movies: My $8 senior rate became $6 and my $4 senior combo(drink & pocorn) was reduced 20% to $3.20. Only the $4.50 senior rate before 6PM on Weds is not discounted. Regular patrons can see a movie all day Tuesdays for only $7 or an unbelievable $5 with the Premiere card. Even on weekends the card gets you a $1 discount on tickets.

Biggest auditorium in a Laemmle I’ve ever seen!

Chris has obviously never been to the Royal. :)

Laemmle had a stroke of genius with a free screening of 1961’s “Raisin In The Sun” on MLK Day. Mgmt asked the 300 attendees if it was their first time at the NoHo 7 and 90% raised their hands. I overheard many favorable comments about the new Laemmle, including their fabulous posters.

You’re right, Edward. I haven’t. And as long as they’re doing indie/arthouse, I’ll probably never go inside! :)

The Royal is like watching a movie projected in a hallway.

There is a campaign going on to try to save the theatres

Alas, according to Greg Laemmle’s twitter “ NoHo property was sold. We are operating and will likely continue to operate through the end of 2023. But this location will be going away.”

Save Arclight Cinemas twitter states the building will be demolished and become luxury apartments.
