Theatre also opened as the Grande brand (other being Barrie).
…as well as The Grande Sheppard Centre and The Grande Strawberry Hill
It should display closed now, as this theatre was closed in 2018 to make way for a new Playdium which opened in 2019.
To amend my comment, this was actually opened by Loews Cineplex that year, before being succeeded by Cineplex Galaxy in 2003 (now known as Cineplex Entertainment).
This theatre specifically opened on February 19, 1999 with the movie “Office Space” and one week after Colossus opened in Vaughan.
Grand opening ad posted.
This theatre’s opening movies include October Sky, Office Space, My Favorite Martian, Payback, Message in a Bottle, Jawbreaker, Saving Private Ryan, Shakespeare in Love, Life is Beautiful, and Blast from the Past.
It’s very weird to me that this cinema has the circuit board carpet found in the Famous Players Colossus theatres… Famous was known for having custom carpet made, but I guess this was an off-the-shelf option if the competition had it?
Cineplex acquired a number of Famous Players locations, wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibilities they found rolls and rolls of it somewhere.
Though still owned by Cineplex, it should be listed as open, but no longer showing movies. Name should be changed to “Playdium Brampton” since it reopened in 2019 and current functions as an arcade and entertainment centre. Cineplex already has a PlayerOne Amusement Group subsidiary that owns Playdium.
