Now owned by Starplex
Rave is getting out of the movie theater business – they’ve sold off sites to Carmike, AMC and many of the former National Amusements sites to Cinemark (the sale is still pending, my guess is its tied up for DOJ reasons as they overlap in Ohio). Not sure why this one went to Starplex, but as Starplex usually does, they’ve lowed prices ($7 adult admission).
This one went to Starplex because it was one of the 3 theaters sold from Rave to Cinemark that owned its own land. The other theaters all leased the land, so Rave could sell this one and the other 2 (Rave Southington, CT and one in Pennsylvania) to anyone who wanted the land. Starplex chose Berlin only, so as of right now Berlin is the only Starplex in CT.
This theater now has it’s fourth owner in as many years and is operated by a company called “Picture Show”. AMC could not acquire this theater when they bought out Starplex due to anti-trust reasons related to their theater in Plainville, so the theater was operated by Carmike for a year. Then when AMC bought out Carmike the same problem arose, and I’m actually surprised they were able to find a buyer so quickly.

Uploaded some photos of the exterior as well as two photos from the inside of the theater. Auditoriums 3-10 are essentially carbon copies from each other (with the odd numbered auditoriums having the walkway to the right of the screen, and the even numbered ones having the walkway to the left of the screen).
The complex went through a major renovation in 2017-2018, after the acquisition by Picture Show in December 2016. The lobby and hallways had its decor updated, along with a new paint scheme. The auditoriums recieved new reclining seats, and had its risers modified to accomidate the new seats. The exterior of the building also recieved a new paint job, and signage.
