Yesterday I purchased a set of postcards depicting Acts I, II, and III of George Broadhurst’s drama “Bought and Paid For” performed at the “Princess Theatre, Wm. A. Brady’s chicago Playhouse.” I have found information about this play’s run on Broadway but none while it was in Chicago. I would appreciate any information….names of actors, dates of run, etc. Thanks!

My Great Aunt Francie wrote her autobiography many years back and she said…
“On a trip via streetcar to downtown Chicago, I passed the Princess Theater where Houdini was playing. The front of the theater was hung with big signs and his name was up in lights. I felt desire to see this show, but the $1.50 or $2.00 ticket was out of my range. (the local vaudville was .15 cents for kids). Decades later, I wish I had done anything to go to that theater and see Houdini – still THE name in our magic history after all these years.”
