Boxoffice, April 27, 1970: “Harold Goldstein of Goldstein Drive-Ins, Schenectady, has purchased the Bennington, Vt., airer from Willard & Alonzo. It’s a 15-year-old drive-in the the neighboring Green Mountain state. Bridgham Theatres of New Hampshire had been recent lessees, with David Bridgham, son of the circuit president, as supervisor.”

The Bennington Drive-In Is Closed Sometime In The Early 1980s With A Confusing Moment.
The entrance road still exists along with possibly the roadside marquee. Also interestingly, the bowling place “Bennington Lanes” is still there and has been there since at least 1965 when the drive-in was still operating.
Opened on 23/4/1949 with “Buck privates” and “Diamond Jim”.
I worked there as a projectionist in the mid 1970s. It had Simplex E7 projectors with Strong High-Intensity arc lamps, and a magnificent Western Electric Vacuum Tube amplification system.
Visible in 1951 aerial photos, also listed in 1950 Film Daily Yearbook as Bennington Drive-In.
Interestingly enough, the property is vacant with the only remaining trace of the drive-in being the foundation of the projection booth/concession stand.
This drive-in was actually between Bennington and North Bennington.
