Located in the Mickley area of Stocksfield-on-Tyne, west of Newcastle upon Tyne, on the main A695 road. There was a small 100-seat Cosy Cinema on this site, which was closed on 28th May 1939.
A new Cosy Electric Picture Hall (a rather old fashioned name) was built, with the entrance and circle at street level, and the stalls below, following the steep slope of the land. The proscenium was 26 feet wide. Building work was initially delayed, due to the outbreak of World War II. The cinema was completed and opened in 1940.
It was closed around 1966, and became a Masonic Hall. In recent years, the Mason’s have been using the former circle area, now divided off from the stalls area, which is now the Glenside Function Suite.
