CT member Tim Larsen who posts under the name tlpdesign has created a fine website record of the Riverside Quad. The link to it is on the Riverside page. There are 30 pictures embedded in the site. The last 6 or so are from the booth of the Macon Mall Theater. When I mentioned that the booth seemed a lot larger in those pictures than I remembered he said that was because it was not the same booth.
The Georgia Theater built Quad from 1977 was included in the 1987 sale to UA. UA soon bankrupted and was absorbed by Regal. Regal then demolished the quad and built an 8 on the site. Don’t know when that happened or when it closed.
@MikeRogers, it was a Georgia Theatre Company property once. I remember driving by it in 1984, which boasted the GTC logo on both sides of the marquee.
Went to the Macon Mall Theater in the late 70’s. What started out as the new mall in Macon unfortunately has gone downhill over the decades. They have tried to enlarge, that didn’t work, so they torn down the expansion. The area has deteriorated and major infusion and cultural change is vastly needed.

I worked here during High School in the late 80s. It was United Artists then. Popping corn while waiting on customers is a skill.
The Macon Mall Quad opened on July 15, 1977. The debut bookings were “Star Wars,” “The Other Side of Midnight,” “Greased Lightning,” and “New York, New York.”

It was built by Georgia Theatre in the mid 70’s and was included in the sell out to United Artists Theatres in the late 80’s before UA was bought by Regal.
I’ve updated the streetview to show the actual location. The theater itself is gone. The Linens~N~Things building is a new structure and is now abandoned as well.
As an aside the Macon Mall itself is now only a shell of its former self. Once the largest mall in the state it is now a place for the dregs to hang out. Most of the retail space is empty and the owner is preparing to demolish half the buidling (ironically the “new” half) and re-establish the remaining area as “Art Space.”
…or something like that.
