Located in Dolgellau, Gwynedd (formerly Merionethshire) in northwest Wales. The Cosy Cinema was part of the E.H.James chain of cinema’s which included sites at Llanrwst, Menai Bridge and Llanfairfechan amongst others. It was opened some time in the 1930’s but had closed by 1947, after Paramount Picture Theatres Ltd. under the control of Guy Baker opened the “Plaza Cinema” nearby and took the lions share of the audience in the locality.

The photo shown is not the cozy cinema, that is Neuadd Idris (more recently called Ty Siamas) in Eldon Square, the local exhibition center. The cozy cinema was situated in Well street Dolgellau, it was later used as an Aston’s Furniture showroom but has been empty now for many years. The entrance and very steep steps up to the cinema floor are still there.
