Located in the Gimmel quarter of Beer Sheva, the largest city in the south of Israel. The Oroth Hanegev (Light Cinema) was built in a Brutalist Art Moderne style, designed by Yaakov Rechter under the supervision of architect Zeev Rechter. It was opened in January 1960 with Alex Guinness in the “Bridge on the River Kwai”. Closed in December 1989. This mid-century cinema is now boarded up and decaying. Still a striking and unique building.
