Part of the Sameric chain, the Eric Westmont Theatre was located in the Acme Shopping Center, Haddon Commons on W. Cuthbert Boulevard in Haddon Township. Originally opened December 21, 1973 as a single screen 1,000-seat theatre. The opening movie was Roy Scheider in “The Seven Ups”. It was twinned in the early-1980’s.
In the early-1990’s it went to a discount second-run theatre chain that took over several other theatres in the area (eg, Echelon Mall, Delran). Finally operated by United Artists This incarnation did not last very long and the theatre was closed on January 28, 1996.

This did not close in 1994 as have fond memories seeing the 1995 action movie Die Hard with a Vengeance here not once but twice on its second run (tickets were $2). Real shame it was torn down as that was my local theatre for much of my childhood…although I often found myself going to nearby multiplexes with better selection.
Also the location is incorrect. The Eric was located about a half mile to the south in the shopping center between the Acme and the CVS pharmacy.
