The Concord Mall Cinema shares the same design as the Exton Cinema, Exton, PA, and the York Cinema, York, PA, being as all 3 theatres were opened by Budco Quality Theatres.

This opened on February 11th, 1970. Its grand opening ad can be found in the photo section.

I saw The Deep here also. It was a great theater. My grandparents lived on Faulk road, and whenever my grandmother wanted to go shopping, she would drop me off at the theatre,do her shopping, then pick me up.Great times.I love that area.Would like to come back and visit sometime.

Saw many films here from 1972 up until some point in the 1980s when I went away to college. My 1st recollection was seeing Mike Nichols' Day of the Dolphin here in 1972. Little did I know I would meet him 40 years later backstage at a theater I was performing in at in NYC. Other memorable films I saw at the Concord Mall Cinema, if I’m remembering correctly: The Doberman Gang, The Odessa File, The Great Gatsby, the Wilmington premiere of Funny Lady (w/ a champagne fountain in the lobby!), The Day of the Locust, Three Days of the Condor, The Bad News Bears, Marathon Man, The Last Tycoon, King Kong, Black Sunday, The Deep, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, Days of Heaven, Atlantic City, Ordinary People, Raiders of the Lost Ark (?). I recall Chinatown played here in 1974 but I didn’t see it at the time. My mom took me to see The Godfather Part II here at my insistence — I was 11 years old.

I must have seen dozens of movies at this cinema. The last time I was anywhere near this place it was still a theater and it was still next door to the Pathmark. Wow, I feel old now…

Academy Award winning director Luke Matheny applied for an Usher position at the Concord Mall II in 1993. He was not hired and had to work at the nearby Subway restaurant. He did however see “Joe versus the Volcano” here which was an inspiration for his 2010 film “God of Love” which won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.
