The Clifton Cinema was built by the Sydney Clift chain of Clifton Cinemas at the corner of South Street and Westbury Street. It opened on 31st October 1936, with Elisabeth Bergner in "Escape Me Never". It was sold to the Essoldo chain in 1979, and film use continued until it was closed on 10th March 1980.
It became an Essoldo ‘Square Deal’ Bingo Club. It operated as a Top Ten Bingo Club until closing in 2010. By 2014 it had re-opened as an independent bingo club.

I’m not sure where the person above has got the infomation from, but i can assure you the business is still running from the site, and there is restoration work taking place on the outside of the building at this very moment. this is coming from an somebody still employed with the business.
ps the Landlords of the property have no plans of demolishing the building as was discussed at a town meeting in the autumn of 2011
