Located in the small beach side town of Robe on the sea front at the juntion of Smillie Street and Victoria Street. The Institute was originally opened in 1868. In later years, it was operating as the town cinema, and is listed prior to 1951 and at least until 1957. All seating was on a single level floor.
Today, the building is used as the town library and information centre.
