The Civic Theatre, formerly the Wondergraph, latterly the State.

Located in the centre of Adelaide. The Wondergraph Theatre was opened on 5th September 1913. It was designed by architects Garlick & Jackman and had an ornate ‘Temple of Dreams’ facade.

It was re-named Civic Theatre/New Civic Theatre from 1932 until 1957. Rebuilt to include CinemaScope and air conditioning, it reopened as the State Theatre, which closed in May 1977.

From 2002, it has become a bar, nightclub and cabaret club, known as The Weimer Room. In May 2019 following renovations it re-opened as an entertainment centre named Downtown. The former front stalls is used as an entertainment centre, the foyer is a snack bar/drinks bar and restaurant and the former projection booth is a rooftop bar.

Downtown Hindley nightclub since February 2017 formerly XL Superclub. Open on Saturday nights only although at the time of writing it was closed for alterations. Convenience store seems to have gone now.
