The Conklin Opera House was opened in 1901. It later went over to movies as the Kaw Theatre. With the completion of the Kaw Reservoir Dam in 1976, the original town of Kaw City was completely inundated.

Fire insurance maps of Kaw circa 1924 show theatres at 114 W. 5th & 505 Main. Names aren’t listed, though the 114 W. 5th theatre shows the presence of a stage.
