The Rancho Drive-In has been closed for a long time! As of July 2006 the ticket booth, part of the snack bar foundation, & the screen poles, which were cut off close to the ground, were left.
Only info I can find states that the Rancho Drive-In opened by 1952. I was told that it was possibly owned at one time by the McLendon Family.

Billboard, June 21, 1952: “Barton R. McLendon, head of the Tristates Theater Circuit, has announced that construction has been started at Atlanta, Tex., on the Rancho Drive-In, which is being built at a cost of $75,000. The drive-in is to be completed early in July.”
A closer address is 948 FM249, Atlanta, TX.
However, a 1955 aerial photo shows the drive-in open and apparently operational which would precede the date given in the description by at least four years.
A 1968 aerial photo shows the screen is gone. Today, it is private property but you can still see the outline and some of the ramps.
