ScreenX has been installed on #12. First title was The Wild Robot, opening on Sept 27, 2024.
The VIP section opened on December 19, 2011. It opened with the following films in VIP: “Hugo” in 3D, “New Year’s Eve,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” on two VIP screens, and “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1.” The following two days, it also had “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”
Cinema 10 was converted into a digital IMAX theatre on December 5, 2023. Its first film was Godzilla Minus One: The IMAX Experience.
This theatre’s opening movies include Big and Harry, Life is Beautiful, The Waterboy, You’ve Got Mail, A Bug’s Life, Enemy of the State, The Prince of Egypt, The Rugrats Movie, Star Trek Insurrection, and Jack Frost. There were also sneak previews for Mighty Joe Young (followed by A Bug’s Life) and Stepmom (followed by Enemy of the State).
Please change the name to Cineplex Cinemas Coquitlam and VIP.
I can’t find any pictures of this theatre’s lobby before it was renovated (I think). Was it styled the same way as other SilverCity theatres?
And to add Mikey, that theatre gained a new label: Cineplex Cinemas Coquitlam and VIP.
Same commercial, different theatre name.
This opened on December 18th along with the SilverCity Riverport Expansion of 6 more screens and an IMAX theatre as well as the Cineplex Odeon The Grande at Strawberry Hill 12. In 2016 this became the Cineplex Coquitlam. Grand opening ad posted.

December 18th, 1998 grand opening ad can now be found in the photo section.
I only recall being here once, but man, what a nostalgic time. I remember being here during the release of the Matrix and Message in a Bottle. Every time I pass this area, from that time to this day, I get so excited. Even this picture is entrancing. I’d like to see a movie in this theater one day, if only I know how to get here by bus.
Further update: Five of the 20 screens are now converted to the Cineplex VIP experience. Leather couches, bar and in-seat service. Tix are $19.50 ($22.50 for 3D movies).

Update: Complex is all digital now, and one screen has been renovated to the Ultra AVX system.
“One screen was the first to use digital projections in Canada.” Silvercity Riverport had the first DLP installation (they ran Star Wars: Episode II on Cinema #5). I think Coquitlam’s came a few years later.
Mind you, this location will probably be all-digital by year end.
There a re pictures on its page at CinemaTour: http://www.cinematour.com/tour/ca/149.html
